In the state of Texas, amusement companies are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance to operate in Texas.  Most companies have made a business decision not to get the required liability insurance.  Generally insurance is one of the biggest expenses in this industry.  You may be asking yourself, “how does this affect me?”  Well if a participant was to get hurt participating on products from an unisured company, your ability to recover damages may be limited to the personal and business assets of that business owner if it is proven that the company was negligent.  If the company’s assets does not fully cover the damages, then the participant or the participants parents may have pay medical costs.  Our goal in writing this article is not to pass judgement on those that have chosen not to follow the law, but to educate consumers.

Every park is a little bit different.  Generally most parks require that the party rental company add them as an additional insured.  This is intended to protect the park from liability if there is an injury resulting from the misuse of the product.  It is best to contact the park directly and ask them what their process is.

When planning to have an event at a park, it will be in your best interest to schedule in one month or more in advance.  This will save you a lot of stress.  Some parks will require you to pay a fee.  The fee may range from $25 or more.  You will also need to find out if the park has a power source.  Most inflatables require a minimum of 1 – 110 outlet.  If the park does not have a power source, you will have to provide a generator or rent a generator from the party rental company.  I have included a list of websites Houston, Harris County, and Galveston County Parks below.
