What Are Those Bouncy Things?
You have heard them called moonwalks, jumpers, jumpythings, bounce houses, jump houses, and a variety of other names depending on the region of the country you live. Regardless of where you live there are some key facts that every parent needs to know. First of all, a commercial inflatable is usually made of 18 ounce vinyl or 15 ounce vinyl depending on the manufacturer. These are not the same inflatables that you purchase from Walmart or in your local store. Commercial inflatables are designed to take the abuse from kids and adults and may cost several thousand dollars. Parents need to make sure that the inflatables are anchored using sandbags or stakes. Some companies around the country may use waterbags. Generally the rental company should provide some type of guidelines on the amount of kids that should jump in the inflatable at one time. Some companies may provide the information on their Website or they may provide a printout for the customer to keep. It is always a good idea to follow those guidelines. Many kids see moonwalks and slides as a big pillow and believe that they cannot get hurt on them. These guidelines are issued to ensure that everyone has a good safe time on the inflatables. Depending on the size of the inflatable, it may require one blower or several blowers. Each blower requires a 20 amp circuit that should not be any further than 75 feet from the outlet unless the company is using a 10 guage extension cord. Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility and helps ensure that everyone has a jumping good time.
